Wallace Santos is a Ph.D. student, and his research lies at the intersection of political economy, electoral behavior, and democratic accountability. He seeks to understand how voters evaluate incumbents under conditions of limited or distorted information, particularly when exogenous shocks shape political and economic outcomes. His current projects explore whether voters effectively punish or reward political elites in such contexts, as well as the relationship between democratic stability in African countries and their dependence on commodity exports.
Santos earned a Master’s degree in Administration from EBAPE/FGV, specializing in institutions, politics, and government, and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Ibmec RJ, with a concentration in financial education and decision-making.
