How did pre-existing networks between Manhattan Project participants affect the first successful atomic bomb project? In this research note, we collect and analyze data on 149 participants and 50 organizations extracted from Richard Rhodes “Making of the Atomic Bomb.” This preliminary analysis indicates that long-term work, personal, and military ties provided a dense social structure.
